new beginnings

Fisher Family Introduction

Charlie Fisher (27 years old), Lacey Fisher (8 years old)

I'm starting to feel like I'm in a really good place lately. Things are finally starting to look up for me. Lacey's doing really well in school. Not that I'm surprised, she's a really great kid but I don't understand where she gets it from. It wasn't me and it definetly wasn't her mother. Lacey has been pretty bummed out that there's no school in the summer. I came up with the idea that she should try to write some stories, for fun. So far, she's really been enjoying it.

Lacey's summer days usually consist of writing, playing with her toy chest and going outside. They just built a new public pool in Downtown Ashland. Lacey has been begging me to take her to it since all of her school friends hang out there. Unfortunately, it's not free so Lacey so I haven't been able to check it out yet.

Luckily, I've been able to hold this DJ job. I DJ every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. I don't have to be there until 9 so I get to tuck Lacey into bed before leaving her with a sitter. Man, she hates waking up and knowing I'm gone. I feel so bad, but what other choice do I have? I'm doing this for us.

Dale and Brittany broke up about a month ago and luckily it didn't have anything to do with me. We actually stopped seeing each other right after that first incident but now that she's single, I've been thinking about giving her a call. I just don't know how Dale would feel about it.

Whatever, I decided to give her a call, without talking to Dale. He's already been with 4 other girls since they broke up so really, he shouldn't even care if I call her.

We ended up talking for almost an hour. I almost forgot to ask her out. What an idiot! Probably because I was perplexed that she asked about Dale. I felt terrible having to lie to her when she asked if I'd seen him with any other girls lately. At the last minute, I kind of just threw in the idea of going on a out to dinner. I was relieved when she said yes.

After we hung up, I headed over to the 24-7 Mart to get a cup of coffee. Believe it or not, they have the best coffee in this whole town. It's so close that I don't even keep a coffee maker at home anymore!

I can't get my mind off of my date with Brittany. I really don't want to take her to The Greasy Spoon or anything like that. While I was at 24-7, I decided to ask Mark, the owner, if he had any suggestions. He rattled off a few restaurants I haven't heard of. I grabbed a newpaper before I left 24-7.

I decided to make one of Lacey's favorites for dinner - Mac and Cheese (from scratch). This is probably one of the only things I can make that I won't burn.

It's already starting to smell delicious!

We sat down for dinner around 7PM. This might be my best batch of mac and cheese to date. We both had two helpings!

After much resistance and a few rounds of "Daddy, 5 more minutes please!" I finally tucked Lacey into her bed at 9:30. Now that she's home all day with me, I find myself feeling more and more exhausted. I don't know how I did it when she was smaller.

After Lacey went to bed, I read the cuisine section of the newspaper and read a few reviews of the local restaurants. After about an hour of back and fourth, I think I finally made my decision.

The next night, I left Lacey with the sitter. She was working on another story - this time about zombies and unicorns working together to fight off the evil Panda Man. I have no idea where she comes up with these things.

I picked Brittany up from her apartment. She just got her own place near the city's center. It looks like a really nice building. I wish Lacey and I could move closer to Ashland. I really hate being all the way out in Shady Acres.

We arrived at Fish and Chips just in time for our reservation. It's been so long since I've been on a real date. I think even the waiter could tell how nervous I was!

Brittany didn't seem to notice - either that or she didn't want to make me feel any more nervous! After a while of talking, my nerves started to settle.

By the time the food arrived, we were chatting it up like old friends. I couldn't believe I had been nervous at all about this! Brittany has this way about her that makes me feel calm and confident. I really like the way I feel around her.

The restaurant started emptying out as we finished our meals. It felt like we were there for such a short time but when I checked my watch, I had realized we had been in the restaurant for 3 hours! No wonder everyone else was gone!

We finished up our meal as quickly as we could. The waiters had already started vacuuming and cleaning the restaurant. It kind of made me a little annoyed but I guess they wanted to get home. I just wanted to stay in this moment for as long as possible.

I walked Brittany home, which was only a few blocks.

I wasn't really sure if I should go for the goodnight kiss or not, but before I could even make up my mind Brittany threw her arms around me and made the decision for me.

I walked away from her apartment feeling the same way I did that time we first kissed last summer. I couldn't wait to see her again!

Luckily, I didn't have to wait too long. A few days later she stopped by, kind of unexpectedly. I was shooting some hoops outside when she pulled up. She joined me for a game. I asked her to stay for dinner but she said she had other plans.

It's been three weeks since our first date. Since then, we've been pretty inseparable. Brittany has even been spending the night at my place.

Brittany comes over when she doesn't have to work and even helps me with Lacey. I wasn't sure how Lacey would feel about her but so far, they've really hit it off. I'm really glad they are both getting along!

Gameplay Notes: This couple moved along pretty quickly. Brittany kept showing up at Charlie's place! They hit it off really well so I didn't shoo her away at all.

It took me forever to get this update out - I apologize! I've been pretty busy lately but I do have the next two updates *almost* ready to go, so fingers crossed they will be out in a timely fashion! I am still ahead of my goal (to be further along in the game than real-time). Let's hope I can keep it up!

  1. I think it's so sweet that Lacey writes stories! Maybe she'll be a writer one day. That would be fairly different from her dad's job as a DJ!

Brittany and Charlie seem really promising. I love it when you get a couple like that. Hopefully Dale won't mind too much - it does sound like he's moved on but you never know.

  2. He's such a good Dad to Lacey, I like their home, and how she writes, aww! Brittany is cute, she's all dolled up for the date, and him too, very sweet. It sounds like Dale has moved way past her, so hopefully he won't mind in the bit, besides they make a cute couple, and he can't just put every girl he's been with on a 'do not touch' list.
